Archaeologists working on the site of a housing development in Kendal have uncovered a locket which is believed to have been lost more than 60 years ago.
The small locket was discovered by archaeologists digging on the site of the town’s former cattle market, which is soon to be turned into a multi million pound housing scheme being built by Home Group and Time and Tide.
The locket was discovered among the foundations of a former 18th century cottage which was situated on the edge of Appleby Road. It is believed to have been lost when the cottage was demolished in 1949 during remodelling of the auction site. Read more.
